Indian wedding cost

I was reading some articles on the net when I stumbled across this. "Average cost of Indian wedding is as high as $34,000"[Link].In today's exchange rates, that is almost 17 lakhs !!You know, you can buy a Honda Civic and a top end Suzuki Swift in the same amount of money .

Now why is this a tough choice to make ? :)
