The number one

After the farcical F1 race last weekend at Hockenheimring and a brutal press conference later ( see especially the section saying Questions from floor in this link), Felipe Massa has now come out and said he is not the number two driver in Ferrari.

Barring Massa, I am not sure how many other people in the world would share that belief. But I agree completely with the temperamental Brazilian. Sure he is not number two, Fernando Alonso is number 1 and 2 in Ferrari !!

Hope someone gives poor old Felipe a hard slap so that he wakes from his state of denial :-(

Return of the king

2009 seems to be the year of comebacks. First Lance Armstrong riding the Tour de France and now Michael Schumacher stepping back inside an F1 cock pit to replace an injured Felippe Massa.

If you are an F1 fan you have to love this. Schumacher Vs a resurgent Lewis Hamilton should be fun to watch. Would he still have the same ruthless streak that made him such a successful driver ? I guess we will have to wait and see

Only sad part is that it had to happen at the expense of a horrendous injury to Massa. I always have a soft spot for Massa. How can you not , after seeing the finale to the 2008 season ? The sight of him choking back his tears while waving to his fans is one that will stay with me forever …… 

I hope he recovers completely. But for purely selfish reasons, I also hope that Schumacher gets to drive at least 4-5 races for Ferrari !!

Formula 1 Season start

I must confess I am a big F1 fan. Have been a fan ever since I saw the last race of 1997 season , when Michael Schumacher quite deliberately attempted to take Jacque Villeneuve out by turning into him. Quite clearly Schumacher would do anything to win. The controversy and uproar that followed this incident got me instantly hooked to F1. And I have been fascinated by Michael Schumacher ever since.

Although I am a big Schumi fan, there is really only one time in F1 when I literally jumped out of my seat after seeing an overtaking move. This was the one that Mika Hakkinen pulled on Schumi at the Spa in 2000. You can see a couple of different shots of this overtaking here and here

I am hoping that the Force India F1 team does well. Go India !! And Go Kimi !!
